The ongoing Covid-19 restrictions have required a change to Food Hui 2021 which will now be presented on 1 November as a live virtual event.

Many of you have told us how important it is to you that Food Hui still goes ahead. We need to get together, however we can, and have important conversations about hospitality, our food and our future. We remain committed to deliver this to you as these conversations are too important to just sweep under the rug for when the dust has settle
d.

Our virtual Food Hui will look a little different from previous years but will enable us to open up the discussion to an even wider audience and we encourage you to join in. The 1-day event will still include live panel sessions, presentations and Q&A sessions where you’ll have the opportunity to learn and ask questions of our industry’s movers and shakers.

To make sure we cover all of the burning questions within our industry we will still conduct the panel discussions, interviews and presentations that we could not fit in one day and bring them to you as Food Hui Plus, along with the recording from the day all ticket holders will receive the extra content inclusive of the ticket price.

We hope you can join us!

The Restaurant Association of New Zealand and Eat New Zealand have partnered to bring you a plethora of speakers and panellists to take the stage to share knowledge and insights.

Our vision for food hui 2021 is...WITHIN

An opportunity to look inwards. To embrace, celebrate and champion who and what we are as a food nation, while striving to lead a new way forward.

A chance to celebrate what we have here, within ourselves. To seek guidance from our own leaders, thinkers and innovators. To encourage each other and to look for support on our own shores.

We will draw on global experiences as lessons to help focus on our own narrative. To take pride in our industry, in our food, our people, our stories, our heritage and our land. To strengthen what we have already built and to come together to look within, as we look ahead to pave a more resilient food future for Aotearoa.

Food Hui 2021 Keynote presenters
Chef/restaurateur Matt Lambert will be joining us with his long time friend DJ Sir-Vere to talk about his experience and journey from Aotearoa to The Big Apple and back again. Matt is one of our most recognised chefs and received a Michelin star for his kiwi-inspired restaurant, The Musket Room, New York. Matt returned home to New Zealand last year to run The Lodge Bar & Restaurant in Auckland’s Commercial Bay.
Dr Hana O’Regan has long been a champion for story-telling. A gifted orator, she recognises the power in using our stories to see ourselves as food people. As we continue to search for definition of our cuisine and our food culture, she challenges us to consider what happens when some of our cultural narratives are silenced. How can we reimagine ourselves with partnership at the heart of the way we move forward? If we succeed, what are the opportunities to become an authentic, unique and world-leading food nation?
The Restaurant Association of New Zealand has partnered with Eat New Zealand to bring together hospitality’s top thinkers, leaders and doers to screens near you.
This year’s virtual format is an incredible opportunity for everyone around the nation, to be a part of NZ’s biggest food conversation
